The Sussex County YMCA, located at 15 Wits End Rd, Hardyston, is the newest branch of the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges. Chartered in 1980, the Sussex County YMCA, operated as a Y without walls until a $1.5 million capital campaign enabled us to open our own 32,500 square foot state-of-the-art facility in January 2005. Programs include a full range of health and wellness related programs, a full aquatics program for infants through seniors, teen programs, youth sports, day camping, outdoor sport programs, volunteer programs, and specialized individual fitness programs. We also provide school age child care at elementary schools located in Blairstown, Franklin, Frankford, Hardyston and Montague. Our mission is to enrich the lives of the children, families and communities we serve, through programs that build spirit, mind and body, welcoming all people, in an environment that nurtures positive values. Our staff are committed to instilling our core values of Caring, Respect, Honesty and Responsibility in all that we do from teaching a class to maintaining our facilities. Our members enjoy all that our facility has to offer: • A 4,000 sq ft Wellness Center with over 50 pieces of strength conditioning and cardiovascular equipment; • A Wellness Coaching room for new members who desire personalized attention to help start their fitness program; • A 3,000 sq ft aerobic/activity room for spinning, step aerobics, Pilates, yoga, gymnastics, and multiple youth activities; • A 6-Lane 25-yard pool, sauna, steam, whirlpool; • A child watch room; • Two multi-purpose rooms (one with kitchenette); • A teen center; and • A large multi-purpose field. Reflecting these efforts, the Sussex County Y was voted the #1 Non-Profit Organization in Sussex County in the New Jersey Herald’s Annual Readers’ Poll in 2009.
