The Sussex County YMCA is dedicated to the welfare of all. In order to maintain a consistent and cooperative environment, the Management of the YMCA requests that all members and participants using it’s facilities: • Refrain from the use of foul language, abusive actions or inappropriate behavior; • Recognize that good sportsmanship, fair play and a cooperative attitude govern behavior at all times; • Respect others as well as the building, equipment and the natural environment; • Refrain from smoking, possessing alcoholic beverages, firearms or weapons and any illegal substances; • Treat everyone as individuals and show respect for differences, without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability
Failure to observe this code may result in the termination of membership privileges. The YMCA reserves the right to dismiss someone from the organization whose special need we are unable to meet or whose conduct is not in the best interest of the YMCA, without refund. In addition, the loaning of your membership card to another person will result in termination of your membership.
Cell Phone Policy The Sussex County YMCA is a cell phone free YMCA. If you must use your cell phone, please do so outside the YMCA.
Dress Code Proper fitness attire sand sneakers are required in the Wellness Center and Activity studios. No jeans, cut off shorts, ripped sleeves or outdoor footwear. Please bring your own towel and water bottle. A shirt must be worn at all times, no bare midriffs. Please remember that the YMCA is a family atmosphere.
Youth and Teen Policy Children, 14 to 17 years old, may be in the facility without an adult. All other children must be supervised by an adult unless taking part in a YMCA program. Children, 10 years & older may be in the pool unsupervised, as long as the parent remains in the facility. Teen members aged 12 and older may workout in the Wellness Center after completing the Teen Training Workshop (included in membership). Teens visiting the YMCA on a guest pass may not use the Wellness Center.
Use of Locker Rooms and Showers The Sussex County YMCA provides separate male and female locker rooms. In addition, a family locker room is provided for parents with young children and those with special needs. Lockers are for day use only. Please bring a lock to secure your locker while you are in the building, and remove your personal items after each visit. Locks must be removed after each use to allow other members to use the locker.
Parents, please note: The practice of children changing in opposite gender locker rooms can be uncomfortable for some members. Members with children of the opposite gender over the age of 5 years are requested to use the Family Locker Rooms.
